Creating a dream room for under £50

Along with 10 other bloggers I was invited to revamp a small room in my house for a budget of £50 . You can read more about the Dream Room challenge here

Doesn’t sound too easy does it, but I like a challenge.I was sent a £50 Dunelm voucher and off I went shopping.

The room in my home I was least pleased with was definitely the lounge. Cluttered and messy along our mantel and lacking in any kind of co-ordination. It also didn’t look very ‘warm’ and as winter  rushes in we absolutely needed to cosy it up.

There was so much to pick from at Dunelm and some lovely ranges which helped me achieved the co-ordinated look I wanted. Here are my picks…

Budget room makeover

Obviously the rug was a big purchase but will add the warmth and texture we wanted to make the room more cosy.

Here is how the room looked pre makeover……

Doesn’t it look so much better with the rug and the new accessories. I plan to put all my photos in similar frames and display them on the wall . I think the rug adds a real warmth and the lack of clutter creates much more of a sense of calm (I am aware I do REALLY need to declutter my bookshelves)

Over on the other side of the room I had a really cluttered little cupboard top that was looking rather dated and was a bit ‘too much’

So that was simply decluttered and replaced with the beautiful glassware bird, a painted heather and a much loved pot.

Such simple changes but they have had such an impact on a crowded, messy looking room. I am delighted!

A dream (or at least dreamier room) can be  easily achieved by simply updating the styling and a few of the accessories.

Off to sort those bookshelves…..
