How to make a secret garden – my top tips.

Secret garden envy?  Have you ever wondered how to create a secret garden – if so read on for some top tips.

Down the bottom of our rather ramshackle and untidy garden their are two sheds. The space in front of them was filled with a big prickly thorn bush. You could barely get to the shed door and it was an eyesore.

A complete waste of space.

For quite some time my husband and I had been dreaming of clearing that space and building a little area down there to eat at.

I saw a picture in Notcutts gardening magazine of a sweet little seating place that I adored.  I showed it to him and said  ‘that’s it, that’s what I am after.’

How to Create a Secret Garden – where to start

The lovely Jen Stanbrook from Love Chic Living took me shopping  and helped me crystaliee my dream for our little garden.; She guided me to think of five words that would describe and to think of these words as we shopped I wanted the area to be Fresh, Colourful, Happy, Natural and Social (and secret)

We bough home our stash of planters and seating, watering can, a tray and table..told Jonny what we were thinking and off he went. (I’m not a lazy bystander gardener honest, he wanted to do this all by himself and the kids had endless parties to go to!! )

Anyway first he went to the garden centre, then he pottered off into the garden with his radio and a few beers and apart from feeding him we hardly saw him again all weekend.

Look at what he made……totally obscured  from the house and the rest of the garden except for a tiny glimpse through  the blossom ..

It’s like a safe haven where I could totally loosen up from the city life. My wife and I would be sipping red tea once our own secret garden is done. Loved this so much!
