We need to bend the rules and push the boundaries – to stretch our limits and get out of our comfort zones. This sounds like a lot of hard work – and if there is anything that is the same each year it is trying to stick to your new year’s resolutions – sometimes even just making them can be difficult.

Break Routine
We are creatures of habit and feel comfortable when we know when and how things are going to plan out, but if you do everything the same every morning you’re only going to produce the same result. They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Routine induce our comfortability and breaking it is our only solution.

Be Impulsive
Being impulsive isn’t always a bad thing, in fact, for us creatures of habit it can be a very good thing. It forces us to stop thinking and act. Which we seldom do now a days without thinking, and rethinking and overthinking about it. Being impulsive, lets us throw caution to the wind as see where it takes you. It can often be scary but more than often our impulses are driven by our gut and intuition and that is seldom far off from where we want to be.

Let Go
There is no reason to not embrace the outside of your comfort zone. Don’t hold on to tight to the things that only stifle us. Don’t over think too much about it, You only live once – live like it.

Replace the Mundane
Replace old and outdated habits with new out the boxes ones. This will not only open you to new and exciting things but will also introduce you to a whole new group of people. Tired of stale gym air and sweaty machinery, this year trade your gym membership for a Paintball one and start a new adventure cardio routine that will leave you feeling more energized than before you arrive. Paintballing is an action packed outdoor activities that’s full of fun and is bound to leave you wanting more after just one game. Life is only as boring as you let it be. Be innovative be excited. Try something new.

Small Steps
There is no need to throw yourself in the deep end. In fact, taking baby steps out of your comfort zone is actually more beneficial and is less likely to result in regret or sometimes even shock. There is no need to rip the band aid off – slowly does it one small step at a time will encourage you to take more steps and soon you’ll be able to look back and see your old comfortable self in the far distance.

Say yes more often, when we are stuck in a habitual comfort zone our response to new experiences, outings our adventures are more often than not a ‘no’. 2018 is the year to turn that ‘no’ into a ‘yes’. Saying ýes’opens the doorway to more possibilities and opportunities – even if they are new projects at work or new responsibilities that you feel you can’t take one out of fear – say yes and you’ll be amazed at how far you can push yourself and the things you are capable of doing. The biggest lie we get told is that life isn’t that simple. They wrong it is. All you have to do is try.

Volunteer – ways to get out of your comfort zone
This is one of the most rewarding ways to break your comfort bonds. Preferably volunteer for something that will induce learning – something that you are very unfamiliar with and while you’re there try to take in everything the program has to offer. You’ll soon find you are learning new and interesting things all the while giving back to society. It is the most fulfilling act of breaking out of your comfort zone and it is bound to give you a new lease on life and appreciation for your own.
No matter what your resolutions are this year or how you plan to break free from your comfortability bonds remember that 2018 is the year of self-expression – of breaking free from one’s safe self. There is a whole lot of world for us to discover and if we become to set in our ways we miss out on all the wonders happening around us. Be present, be safe and be uncomfortable.
