The most beautiful day I ever had
My wedding day – probably the answer many would expect but it really was amazing I had all the people that meant so much to me and Lee together in one place. The wedding called in lots of favours and this made it very personal. My nan made the bridesmaids dresses, my brother in law drove me, the cake was made by a friend. The church choir sang for me and another family friend made a flower stand for me. A family friend sang as we signed the register and the invitations and order of service put together by my dad and I. It was amazing to see so many people putting their skills together to give us such a memorable day.
The most beautiful thing I have ever seen …
Erin was diagnosed with developmental dysplasia of the hip at 22 months old. She had only just started walking and she limped and fell frequently, not surprising as she had a dislocated hip. She then underwent major surgeries and spent 24 weeks casted from belly to ankles on both legs. After spica removal it took Erin about six weeks to learn to weight bear again and when she finally took those first steps I cried huge big tears and that was the most beautiful thing I have seen. Erin herself was overwhelmed and knew her walking was a huge deal she was so excited and her face said it all.
The most beautiful thing I have ever owned …
A handmade quilted blanket that my nan made. It comprises of 20 individual cross stitched pictures of traditional children playing traditional games. Each picture is then mounted onto a wadded quilt. It took my nan and some of her friends hours and hours to put together. Each picture lovingly handmade. The blanket was made for Chloe, her first great grandchild. All three of my children have used it and now nan has passed away it is even more special to us all.
The most beautiful song I have ever heard …..
I am a total sucker for Disney – probably not the best set of role models for a feminist but I don’t care! My song is again one we had as we signed the register the song is ‘A whole new world’ from Aladin and the line ‘now I’m in a whole new world with you’ bought so many promises and plans for our future. Most of which have come true but we still have more we want to achieve.
The most beautiful thing about me is……
Loyalty and that I am a giver. I try to always
Loyalty and that I am a giver. I try to always help others and I am very loyal to friends and family. I don’t have a huge circle of friends but the ones I have all mean an awful lot to me
The most beautiful person I know is…..
My best friend Faye – we have known each other for over 20 years and I think we have only ever had one falling out in all that time (which lasted about a day if I remember correctly). She has been my rock at many times in my life and her friendship is totally unconditional. We did the teenage holidays together, have taken our children away together, still have spa days together, are godparents to each others children and our boys are the best of friends too which is lovely. Faye is beautiful inside and out and I know I could turn to her at any time of day or night and she knows that I’d drop everything to be with her if needed.
Oh, lovely, lovely post. xxxx
This is so lovely. I am loving these little snapshots in to the lives of people
Ohhh, so many beautiful moments in this post, what great answers from Emma. Her most beautiful moment brought a little tear to my eye, and as the owner of a special handmade quilt myself, I know how important these things are xx
I love this serious Becky – and love Emma! That most beautiful moment brought a tear to my eye x
What a lovely post. Love that Emma’s Nan made the bridesmaid’s dresses and the thought of Erin taking those first steps made me well up.
What a lovely post!
That moment when Erin finally walked unaided must have been so overwhelming.
What wonderful beautiful things Emma! I like the idea of making a blanket to hand down the generations.
I am such a nosey person, I have loved getting to know people through these brilliant posts! ๐
You are such a wonderful person Emma! Lovely reading your post ๐
It is so lovely to have a best friend like that and do lovely girly things with. I made a patchwork quilt for my sons first birthday and am now in a mad panic trying to finish my daughters before her birthday next month. I do hope they will treasure them in the way you do your nan’s. Lovely post.
OMG I drove my dorm-mates mad with that song when I was a teenager- I played it over and over and over- but it died for me when Katie Price and Peter Andre sang a cover version. Gotta love Disney though.
