The most beautiful day I ever had ……
Without a doubt has to be the day I married the love of my life. I had long dreamed for the perfect wedding day, but I never quite expected it to exceed my fairy tale fantasy. After years of pestering for a proposal, followed by a sulky year avoiding any mention of the word ‘engagement’, he finally got down on one knee. Ten months later the wedding planner finally became the bride and we said ‘I doooooo…!’ in front of our family and friends on a beautiful day in Hampshire. A lot of stress, sweat and tears went into planning that day and it was so worth it because every minute was simply perfect. It was in that moment, as we said our vows, that I’ve never felt more secure, more safe, more loved and more excited about anything in my entire life, that made our wedding day the most beautiful day I’ve ever had.
The most beautiful thing I have ever seen …
So far, is the view from the villa we stay in on our family holidays to Menorca. This setting has become a treasured place in our hearts, where every other year my family comes together for two weeks of relaxation and adventures. The evenings are my favourite part of the day here, as the sun starts to fade over the island we come together around the balcony table to dine, laugh, play games, gaze at the stars or sit in silence and listen to the sea lapping against the shore below us. As we grow older, this time together becomes even more precious and it’s these moments, in our perfect setting, that I’ll always appreciate as one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.
The most beautiful thing I have ever owned …
Is our home. I absolutely love every square inch of our little home and not because it’s super stylish or grand, but because of how happy this place makes us every single day. We waited a long time to live together and I’ll always be grateful that we found such a bright and happy place to start our lives together.
The most beautiful song I have ever heard …..
Is Dire Straits Romeo & Juliet. It’s my mum and dad’s wedding song and the Making Movies album was the soundtrack to our lives growing up. This particular song reminds me of their anniversary dinners that my brother, sister and I were always included in. They’d cook a special meal, usually steak, and we’d be able to stay up late with them, with this album playing in the background, listening to stories about their younger, carefree days. I’ll never tire of the waves of love and nostalgia that I feel every time I listen to Romeo & Juliet.
The most beautiful person I know is…..
I’m unbelievably lucky to be surrounded by so many beautiful people in my life, for different reasons and qualities that I cherish, but there is one person who particularly stands out as the most beautiful person I know and that’s my Mum. She is by far the most caring, thoughtful, generous and patient person in the world and I honestly don’t know how I would get by in life without her. Everyday I’m blown away by her selflessness and her ability to put her family before herself. No request is too much for my Mum. She’ll always drop everything for her children and is always there, no questions asked, and never any complaints. Growing up, she has become more than just a mum, she is my friend, my confidant and my voice of reason. I just hope more than anything, that one day I can become a mum myself and put into practice everything she has taught me a mother should be. If I can be as half an amazing mum as she is to me, then I’ll be doing a pretty good job.
Thank you ma for being you, you beautiful person you.
The most beautiful thing about me is……
This is a tricky one because we are all our own worst critics and no one likes a boaster. But if I had to pick one thing that was remotely beautiful about me, I suppose it would be my tenacity and energy I put into everything new I try in life. Even when life throws me a curve ball or doesn’t quite pan out as successfully as I’d hope, I like to think that I dust myself off and move onto something else that will make me happy.
A truly lovely post Katie you certainly do appreciate the people in your life . Gorgeous.
