I am in the market for some bedroom wall art ideas and I have been reflecting on where my love affair with art began.
A love affair with art
I have long loved art.
It started very young. I was taken to the Musee D’Orsay in Paris and I saw Monet’s huge waterlilies encircling a beautiful room and my heart sighed.
I discovered Toulouse Lautrec too on that trip to Paris and his sassy posters.
I danced for a while and Degas ballerinas adorned my walls.
My favourite art though is pop art, especially Peter Blake, it’s bold and shouty and of its time and I love its colour and edginess.
I studied Art History in my 20’s at a London University and to this day I get excited at the mere thought of going to an art gallery. My children have been attending exhibitions since they were really small and I have a little collection of original art of my own that I am super proud of.
My favourite kind of wall art
I admire the talent of artists, I am inspired by the images they convey and I revel in the beauty of how much can be expressed through simple line and colour.
I do occasionally paint and draw myself and I love to make things out of clay or junk but I have never quite dedicated enough time to this to really see where it could take me – so I bask in the admiration of others and I fil my home with their treasures.
I also love words, of course, I do, I make my living as a writer but I love the power of words, simple impactful words that can direct, motivative and move me, words that make me laugh or reflect. When words and art come together I am always happy.
Words as wall art make me smile.

I think this tapestry is the most perfect colour for a bedroom. It is called sea of blues. It is so dreamy.
Fabric hangings can be wonderful in bedrooms, the softness of the fabric echoing the sheets and throws and blankets of a bedroom and adding tot he cocooning effect of the room. At £28.09 this is a really good priced buy too and a range of sizes is available.
