Designing a New Lounge

Today – Designing a new lounge

We are planning to move soon and I am turning my mind to the ideal living space.

It is so very refreshing to start afresh.

We have had our living room look the same for a long time now and I am thinking of something quite different for our new home. Still comfy, still inviting but sleeker and more stylish with an injection of colour. I have been perusing the sofas over at Fishpools and have been inspired by the range of colours and fabrics on offer.

Designing a New Lounge

I think choosing a sofa is a great place to start when designing a new lounge.

The portobello sofa really caught my eye. I love this blue (it also comes in a hot pink but I am not that brave!)

Colour is such a lovely thing to embrace in your home. I am not one for pattern but colour always lifts my spirits and makes me smile.

Doesn’t it look so comfy, so squishy and yet clean and simple too. I would have navy and white cushions with it I think though the jewel tones of the featured cushions are bang on trend and do look great with it.

Designing a new lounge

I think it is so important for a sofa to be comfy and big enough – you and your family will spend so much time on it, getting it right is really importnat.

In terms of flooring I do love wooden floors but my kids love carpets so this may be a battle!

I would opt for dark wood and a lovely rug like this Modassa rug from John Lewis.

To compliment the blues I would have a vibrant splash of art work on the wall but then keep everything else, beautifully and simply white and dark wood.

I love to see orange with blue and this Forest picture would work so well (also John Lewis)

Love this copper floor light from Made

Wouldn’t it just go beautifully in my dream lounge?

Oh I can really see it coming together now. And how about this lovely light shade also from Made.

I think this scheme is lovely, absolutely cohesive and simple and cosy enough to feel both spacious and warm.

Bring on the new house!
