Drama on the Park

Oh yes Drama on the Park !

I was in the park yesterday with my youngest who was riding her bike as I ambled along. The sky was blue and white the grass green and the bright colours of kites, footballs and children playing  lit up the scene.

I suddenly realized how far she was ahead of me. How capable and competent she now is riding her bike, How proud I  am of her but how in so many ways she is moving on from being by her mummy’s side and forging her own way.

I felt bereft amidst my pride and the park stopped being green and sunny and lovely.  For a moment it became a dramatic backdrop to my inevitable loss.

Then she cycled back to me chattering excitedly about a playdate coming up and cajoling me into berry muffins and hot chocolate. Parklife returned to blues and greens.

I said yes.

Growing up can wait and in the meantime there are parks to be played on, icecreams to eat, pictures to clour and many bike rides and playdates to be had.

These are precious days.

How strange though how a photo can just capture a mood you havent even fully identifies.

Cameras are powerful.

What a fab photo, it’s strange how little things can turn something lovely into something upsetting.
