Galway Arts Festival: 14-27 July

Galway’s arts festival is the biggest of its kind in Ireland and it’s a colourful, exuberant celebration of all things theatre, dance, comedy and literature. This year, a highlight will be the play ‘Ballyturk’ starring famous Irish actor Cillian Murphy. The focal point of the action is the Festival Big Top on the banks of the River Corrib.

 

Galway Fringe: 12-28 July

Just like the more famous festival in Edinburgh, the success of the Galway Arts Festival has spawned its very own fringe spin-off. This is the place to discover all kinds of weird and wonderful new things and check out the many street performers who flock to Galway to showcase their talents. There’s plenty on offer for children too, making it easy to arrange a fun-filled family day out.

 

Galway Races Festival: 28 July-3 August

Every year a quarter of a million people arrive in o be part of Ireland’s biggest and most iconic horseracing festival that’s held over seven days annually. It goes without saying the both the bookies and the barmen of  do a roaring trade and the party atmosphere is second to none.

 

Whether you want to immerse yourself in culture, win big at the races or just enjoy the extra buzz of the city, summer is an unforgettable time to visit Galway.
