Home Improvement planning

Since Christmas, I have really tried to focus my attention on getting my house in order in 3 areas of my life; my health, my happiness and my home. The health and happiness are coming along well. I have lost nearly 2 stone since January I have a new book idea with my agent (all about happiness) and I am making more time for my family and fiends.

I haven’t felt so good in years.

My house..? well I am just about to embark on sorting it out. I had a professional declutter last week which was amazing and I feel so much more organised. The problems in the conservatory that remain need to be sorted out by improving our storage systems coordinating and streamlining them and being ruthless with the clutter left to be sorted.

Home improvement planning for the conservatory

Our conservatory is a small busy room dominated by a white billy book case from Ikea which we love. It also has lots of other uncoordinated and slightly unsightly storage. I want to calm it all down and make it look neater and more streamlined.

To start with we need to paint the walls a fresh white and take down some rather manky old blinds and we need to give it a super clean.

I have my eyes on this lovely white Ottoman from B&Q  to replace the stash of red boxes that give a sense of disorder to the room. I also think this would be nice and sturdy and last a while..important considerations when we have kids! I think this would make a lovely toy box and really streamline the room.

To control the (overwhelming) Lego problem, I think some lovely white Lego storage might be just the ticket.  2 of these would store all Lise’s Lego and be a fun and funky easily stackable storage system. The could even possibly be put on top of the craft shelves if need be.

I am also loving these little white storage cubes from B&Q’s new Konnect range. I would lay these on their side and pop them under a window with boxes in or doors perhaps to keep some order!

KonnectI  think the storage box inside would make it easy for the kids to lift their toys out

I have an old pine table in the conservatory that really doesn’t go with the room but it is the perfect size for my sons castle do for now it has to stay. This valspar spay paint is a primer and paint in one and is said to cover every surface. I think I will give this a go.

Our  conservatory roof needs fixing as it has a couple of holes in it and we have a plant regularly growing in! and their is a little damp ion the outside wall which we are going to have to get looked at too. The back door also doesn’t close completely too which lets a lot of heat out.  These improvements will be a lot more costly then our simple spray and storage ones but still need to be done.

Because we play guitar in the at room I think two hard back armless chairs would be really useful I rather like these Finch chairs from Made.com

Though I am unsure about the colour I would choose.

So lots to think about and lots to do but I have a plan and I aim to have it all done by April. The decluttering has been done in earnest and most items purchased.

Watch this space!

I have had help from Saga Equity Release towards my home improvements as part of their campaign to highlight the fact that the most popular use for money generated from equity release is home improvements.

I just cannot wait to see this finished!

Good thinking. I’m benefited by reading this post because I could not know how to organize my home properly. But now I got some ideas. Especially little white storage cubes impressed me much. Thank you for sharing this amazing article.
