Covid has affected Sleep Patterns in the UK – it was pretty inevitable that that would be the case isn’t it. Such a worrying time.
How have you been sleeping over the past year? Has it been disturbed because of Covid.
Me?
Well thanks for asking but actually I have had some okay sleep I just seem to wake up super early with things on my mind.
Due to health reasons I have been classed as extremely vulnerable and had to shield for a lot of the pandemic. You would think this would have lessened the stress as my world got smaller but actually i don’t think that was the case.
I have been a bit worried about getting sick and a lot worried about keeping life going and fun for my kids.
I also think the lack of exercise played some part in me not sleeping so well and definitely when I had the vaccination – that certainly impacted my sleeping as well. I was not getting the 7-9 hours a night recommended for adults.
It’s not just me though survey results have revealed the UK in general has had their sleep impacted by Covid.
Do pop over to TRIP and take a little look at how much the Covid-19 pandemic has affected the UK’s sleeping patterns
How Covid has affected Sleep Patterns in the UK
TRIP discovered that 7-10 people classed 2020 as the most stressful year of their lives and this is of course will have impacted sleep. Stress is the one thing guaranteed to keep us all awake.
Shockingly 85% of the respondents in TRIP’s sleep survey said that their sleep was impacted by Covid 55% of these were women and 45% men.
The majority of those surveyed said that not seeing family and friends was what they found the most stressful.
It has been so hard.
And 50% said they were worried about finances. Ah money worries, they always keep me awake too. So many people finances have been negatively impacted over the past year this is of course a main concern.
Let’s hope as the world opens up and our worries ease and we reconnect with our families an our friends that we begin to sleep more soundly at night and have untroubled, restful dream time.
Do drop me a comment and let me know how you have been sleeping recently.
