The Mad Blog Awards 2016
So last Friday evening I headed down to London for the MAD blog awards 2016
I was very excited, this is my 7th MAD blog awards ceremony and it is always fun. I was a finalist in best thrifty blog and had been nominated for an Outstanding Contribution Award. I know – how lucky was I!
On arrival at the very gorgeous Royal Garden Hotel where the awards were held and where I was staying, I immediately began to relax. It’s a delight to stay at the Royal Garden, such a lovely hotel and it has absolutely all you need.
The Mad Blog Awards 2016
I joined the lovely Sally, Lindy, Jaime, Joanne, Aly and Emma et al for a scrumptious lunch at Wagamamas then it was time for hair and make up.
Such a treat to be pampered ready for the awards. Check out Aly’s cool hair do!
and Emma’s!
and Jaime’s
The awards began at 6.30 and I played roulette for donuts! and caught up with old friends and met some new ones.
I had a lovely table and met our compere for the evening Helen Lederer, who I have always thought was brilliant but think so even more now. She is naturally funny and very down to earth. The food cannot go unmentioned either as it was spectacular!
The awards were brilliant and all the finalists deserve a mention because they are just fantastic but let me share the winners with you:

I didn’t win best thrifty blog but I did win…..
Outstanding Contribution
I know right, how fabulous is that!
I was completely overwhelmed as I was nominated along with some pretty blooming awesome bloggers who all absolutely deserved to win. As I accepted my trophy and muffled my words and muttered about not being quite sure why I had won, Sally stepped in and said she’d known I would wonder that, so they had made a little film.
Would you like a look?
I was completely blown away by this and have to thank the gorgeous people who took the time to make this film and send me such lovely messages; Chris from Thinly Spread, Penny from Being Mrs C, Emma for Mums Savvy Savings, Liz from Cambridge Mummy and Rosie from Rosie Scribble and founder of Baebox the very lovely Penny from Parent Shaped
I think from what was said I won this award for being kind and supportive, that’s a pretty fantastic thing to be recognised for as these are qualities that I really value. My lovely mum would have been so proud. As a kid I won a trophy for being the kindest brownie and I swear she cared more about that than any of my qualifications.
Kindness rocks.
I don’t always get it right but I do (almost always) try my best.
Many people were really kind to me this past weekend and I have had so many lovely messages from so many bloggers I really do want to say thank-you so much.
I also want to really thank Penny making sure I went in the first place and cheering me on. Emily for carrying my bags and keeping me such good company on the way home – you rock Em! I also want to thank Emma who kept reminding people not to try and make me dance and checking I was breathing okay without making a fuss. I know you were looking out for me Emma and it was MUCH appreciated.. She is a quiet superstar that Emma, and she did such a great job all weekend taking care of people, presenting awards and so on. You’re fab!
My prize was a lovely trophy and a stunning bunch of flowers from Moonpig (honestly they do the best flowers!) Sadly (due to an annoyingly heavy ventilator and my suitcase) I could not get them home But I was however delighted to give them to the lovely Emma who has proper enjoyed them.
Huge thanks to Sally founder of the MADS and Tots100 for putting on another great awards (and making me laugh so much at breakfast) but mostly for being fab, supportive and lovely. And to the lovely Lindy who is always a delight to see and who you really can talk about anything with (best dress of the night Lindy!)
Hilarious moment of the night was Sarah Kirsty Emma and I thinking we were Charlie Angels! banging on a locked toilet door, shouting are you all right? let us in we’ll help! suspecting some poor drunken reveller had passed out, only to find it was a locked cupboard.
Oops!
What an outstanding, inspirational, fun and friendly community we have.
I am so proud to be part of it.

P.S I know my pictures are rubbish but I thought you’d like to see them anyway! AND there are tons of people who I haven’t mentioned who really really made the night special. Consider yourself hugged.
