My ideal home office
My ideal home office
We are in the process of doing up our home ready to sell and oh my goodness it has been hard work.
Over the last few weeks we have had 5 rooms painted and we have filled 2 skips. Backs ache and tempers are frayed in our house right now. It is looking better but stress levels are most definitely high.
In order to keep myself calm and focussed and to keep the dream alive, I have been searching for the house of my dreams.
There is so much I want in a new home and if money were no object than an all glass house on the beach in California would probably get my vote.
Sadly money is relevant so I need to keep on track with budget. There are a small list of must haves on my search for a new home.
We want 5 things we dont have at the moment:
- A downstairs toilet
- 3 normal size bedrooms (my littlest currently has a teeny room)
- Car parking space on the drive or outside our home
- A garage
- An office for me
I currently work in tiny corner of the kitchen facing a wall. This can get most dispiriting and I really do need more space. As a work at home writer I need to be able to leave my work spread out without people dumping art projects, junk mail and the likes on top of it, agggh!
My ideal home office would be just gorgeous.
Let me tell you about it.
I would have whole loft space to myself. The floor would be solid oak and there would be a few cosy rugs. The walls would be white and have a few pieces of large, colourful abstract art on them. I would have a giant, vintage desk with space for my writing and space for photography. There would be a whole lot of light in the room as light makes my photography easier and lifts my spirits. I would also have some beautiful VELUX blinds like the ones you can find here
I would have a big squashy chair in the corner of the room where I could curl up and read and I would have a large beautiful lamp.
Oh doesn’t it sound just wonderful.
It’s all very well dreaming though. I have a whole lot of de-cluttering to do before we are anywhere near moving.
I think it is good to keep your eye on what you want thought don’t you and it is rather lovely to dream. I will make it happen…watch this space!

Ideal home office is a collaborative post
I’ve tried a bit of experimentation with my working space…I’ve painted walls with soothing light blue and contrasting orange…Decorated it with framed pictures of family and close friends….Some motivation in the form of small collectibles with inspirational quotes..That’s my space.

sounds lovely!
That sounds perfect. I would also love a loft conversion or ultimately a garden office with doors that fold out, there would be NO toys! I would have a comfy chair or a sofa where I could sit and read with the dog by my feet and my computer set up on my desk. One day……I hope you get yours too x
