Quotes About Introverts

What does it mean to be an introvert?

Are you an introvert? If so I have some lovely quotes about introverts for you today.

For a very long time  I thought it meant someone who was super shy and didn’t like being around other people. But I have done some reading on this now and have found that what it actually means is more positive than that and that introversion can actually be a bout a deeper self love and in fact not a lack at all

To be an introvert is to be content with quietness and with solitude, to be as happy in your own company as with other people.

Is it about shyness? Quotes About Introverts contradict this

Being an introvert doesn’t just have to mean you’re the ‘shy’ one, being an introvert does not mean a lack of confidence but it probably does means you grant yourself the time for introspection and the time for self-assessment. This gives introverts a better sense of self than many, a better understanding of boundaries and often makes them better listeners.

So yes being an introvert as these quotes about introverts attest – is actually a really positive thing to be in a noisy, clamouring , attention seeking world.

Take a look at these quotes about introverts – do any of these quotes about introverts resonate with you?

And so further ado, here are some interesting quotes about introverts to open your eyes to this blessing in disguise.

Quotes About Introverts – Being yourself

“Don’t think of introversion as something that needs to be cured…Spend your free the way you like, not the way you think you’re supposed to.” – Susan Cain

With the rising presence of social media in our lives, it can be easy to get caught up in this idea of a perfect life.

Quotes About Introverts – Instagram vs reality

Everybody’s Instagram pages looking like they came straight out of a movie with hundreds of friends and parties every weekend, posting the ‘best’, most perfected versions of themselves for all the world to see.

But in reality, there is no one way to live your life, ignore what social media says, ignore if your friends are annoyed when you choose a good book over a night out, self-love is doing what you want, ignore everyone else.

And so if you’re an introvert don’t feel pressured to move at the same speed as the extroverts, go at your own pace and do what makes you happy, that’s what life should be about.

Quotes About Introverts & FOMO

Being an introvert can often mean feeling different as if you’re missing something that all these easy, outgoing, talkative extroverts seem to have in abundance, but that’s not the reality, all of that is just kept on the inside, out the way of other people, like a secret just for yourself.

Often you’re the only one who actually knows what’s going on in you’re head. But you are just as full of life and love as everyone else and who cares if no one else can see it.

Living life for yourself, not as a performance for everyone else, is the way it was meant to be lived, and so what could be better than a chaotic existence kept secret, free of any judgement from others, free to be entirely yourself.

Quotes About Introverts and self discovery

“He seemed to see that the inward life might be as manifold, as varied, as rich with experience, as the life of one who conquered realms and explored unknown lands.” – W. Somerset Maugham

In the 19th Century people were discovering for the first time the power of self-exploration, and how seeking a better understanding of themselves and of their emotions opened up whole new worlds to them.

Quotes About Introverts can encourage self-examination

Exploring your own mind can be just as exciting, life-changing and magical as exploring the outer world because there is a whole universe of secrets and ideas within your imagination just waiting to be unlocked. So perhaps, when being an introvert, you can spend that energy that other people spend on each other on your mind and discovering your true self.

Do you relate to these quotes about introverts?

Do you ever find people saying you’re “too quiet” or “closed off”, well most introverts are, that’s the first place most people’s minds go to if you ask them what the traits of an introvert are, but it’s not a negative thing.

Best Quotes About Introverts – my favourite

The one who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd. Those who walk alone are likely to find themselves in places no one has ever been before. Francis Phillip Wernig

Quality over quantity

You don’t need to be talking constantly or forcing small talk to pass the time. Talking when you actually have something to say, something deep or important, means that all your words carry more weight, you’re not just talking but actually saying something. But that doesn’t mean become a hermit who only comes out to spout prophetic passages and then disappears again.

It does mean that you shouldn’t feel bad about being a quiet person because taking the time to mull over your words ensures that you won’t speak before thinking, it means that you can be more respectful towards people’s boundaries and you can make sure you won’t say anything to offend people.

Here is how to cope as an introvert in a noisy world

Quotes About Introverts and solitude

“Many of us seek community solely to escape the fear of being alone. Knowing how to be solitary is central to the art of loving. When we can be alone, we can be with others without using them as a means of escape.” – Bell hooks

Quotes about introverts

“I have to be alone very often. I’d be quite happy if I spent from Saturday night until Monday morning alone in my apartment. That’s how I refuel.” – Audrey Hepburn

If you won’t take my word for it, listen to Hollywood icon Audrey Hepburn, being alone is restorative. If even Miss Hepburn prefers solitude to the glamorous social life of a Hollywood star then I think it’s fair to say that spending time by yourself is nothing to be ashamed of.

Being able to have a good time without anyone else is a POWER MOVE and don’t let anyone tell you differently. Relying on other people for your happiness and a good time is not the way to live life, even if all the extroverts look like they’re having the time of their lives.

I was never less alone than when by myself.  – Edward Gibbon

Quotes about introverts

If you can’t be fulfilled and content spending time with yourself then it can be very easy to feel lonely, and so being an introvert means you don’t need other people and socialising to feel good, you are enough for yourself.

This doesn’t mean you don’t enjoy spending time with other people of course not, it just means you don’t need them, which is exactly how it should be, and so as an introvert you are probably better at making friends who truly add to your life instead of just being fillers to feel surrounded.

And lastly, a quote from Rupi Kaur, a final message to all my fellow introverts to love yourself and your alone time and not feel the pressure so often imposed by society to spend every waking moment ‘making the most of your life’ by being out with other people. Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking

possibly the most famous of books for introverts

At least a third of us are on the introverted side. Some of the world’s most talented people are introverts. Without them, we wouldn’t have the Apple computer, the theory of relativity and Van Gogh’s sunflowers.
Yet extroverts have taken over. Shyness, sensitivity and seriousness are often seen as being negative. Introverts feel reproached for being the way they are.

In Quiet, Susan Cain shows how the brain chemistry of introverts and extroverts differs, and how society misunderstands and undervalues introverts. She gives introverts the tools to better understand themselves and take full advantage of their strengths.

I can’t get Quiet out of my head. It is an important book – so persuasive and timely and heartfelt it should inevitably effect change in schools and offices’ Jon Ronson, The Guardian
