Styled to sell
Bairstow Eves know what they are doing when it comes to house selling and styling. They have worked as estate agents and letting agents successfully for over 100 years now and have over 100 offices across the country! I have been so interested to follow a brilliant campaign by Bairstow Eves called Styled to Sell where 6 digital influencers created a style guide on how to do up various rooms in your house in order to make them styled to sell. I loved these videos and took something from all of them.
So inspiring!
We are in the process of getting our home ready to sell and my bathroom, in particular, was looking most shabby. I was completely blown away by Caro’s bathroom design tips and jumped at the chance when Bairstow Eves asked me if I would like to have a go at showing how her tips could be actioned by giving my bathroom a little makeover and styling it up!
Styled to sell – My bathroom
Caro of lifestyle blog TheTwinkleDiaries.co.uk talks in her video about how to refresh your bathroom to achieve that ultra-luxurious spa feel without spending too much time or effort or very importantly – too much money! You are going to need that for your move!
I loved her video, have a look at it here….
You can also read Caro’s tips over at Bairstow Eves and I made a little list of some of her top tips in order to guide my own bathroom restyle:
Styled to sell – top tips
These are the tips I used as a guide:
- Neutral colour
- Imagine your bathroom as a spa
- Declutter
- Decant soaps and handcreams into nice pots and jars
- Add greenery for texture
So I began with a white but pretty neglected and cluttered space. As you can see there was clutter on my surfaces round the bath and on top of the sink. I had nowhere to hang up towels and the laundry basket had embedded old toothpaste in it! (Kids!!) The shower door base was grimy and the hand-wash looked cheap. There was a lot to be done in this little room to sharpen it up!
Here is how it looked pre-makeover:
I have to admit I really am quite embarrassed to share these photos!
Oh dear hardly looking spa like is it!
Clutter clutter and in need of a deep clean!
The Makeover
Well I armed myself with plants, a new laundry basket and bigger storage cupboard, a shower rack, a ceramic soap dispenser and a lot of elbow grease and I set to work, ably assisted by my lovely niece who has a stylish eye! We also bought matching new towels and a bath mat and only kept out the prettiest toiletries. Here is our big reveal:
Doesn’t it just look SO much better! We are thrilled with how much fresher it looks.
I love this styled to sell campaign, it has reassured my that just by altering a few things I really can make my home look good enough to sell and it really doesn’t have to cost a great deal.
Do pop over to Bairstow Eves and check out the other room styling and tips and be inspired!

Absolutely agree it is all in the detail (and storing away the toothpaste!)
