The Advantages of Quartz

Today we are going to take a look at the advantages of quartz.

Quartz countertops have become popular alternative to granite for a number of reasons. Quartz countertops may be made from quartz dust or quarts chips held together in a large slab by resin. However, they’re somewhere between 90 and 95 percent quartz. Here are some of the advantages of quartz.

Appearance – the advantages of quartz

In the quartz vs granite worktops debate, granite no longer wins when it comes to appearances. Granite is available in a variety of colors and patterns. However, quartz worktops are available in an even wider array of colors and patterns. No matter what type of quartz counter you choose, it always adds a touch of luxury to your kitchen or dining room.

Another point in favor of quartz is that it typically has a more uniform appearance than granite. The material itself tends to have a consistent color, though it may have veining or contain reflective pieces. Furthermore, quartz can be held in place with glue instead of screws. This can give you counters, back splashes and showers without visible seams.

Maintenance and the advantages of quartz

If you aren’t sure if you want quartz or granite worktops in the kitchen, know that quartz is generally the better choice. You want to clean up spills on either quartz or granite surfaces equally fast. Yet quartz countertops have an advantage here. Because they are non-porous, you can clean them with just warm, soapy water. You don’t have to use special cleaners.

Quartz requires less long-term maintenance. For example, you’ll never have to reseal it. In contrast, granite needs to be at least once a year to resist both stains and bacteria. Quartz is nonporous, so it will not absorb the greasy spills and become permanently discolored. On the other hand, granite needs to be cleaned almost daily with a mild cleanser to prevent stains and maximize its life span. And quartz is naturally anti-bacterial.

Wear and Tear

It is easy to choose a quartz counter for your wet bar or breakfast bar. These surfaces aren’t used on an everyday basis. Are quartz worktops any good in the kitchen for regularly used work surfaces? The answer is yes. Engineered quartz worktops are more durable than natural stone. They resist scratches as well as granite. They resist impact, as well.

The resin in quartz worktops make it slightly more flexible. That means it is less likely to crack if you drop a pan on it. If the quartz chips, it is a relatively straightforward process to glue it on or replace it. However, quartz countertops are nearly indestructible, so this is a very rare occurrence.

Environmental Friendliness & The Advantages of Quartz

Because quartz countertops can be engineered, they are often created from local materials. They may even be made out of recycled pieces of quartz. This has far less of an impact on the environment that mining marble and transporting it halfway around the world. And quartz is art at the end of the day
