Today – Holiday Spots for an Autumn Break
Holiday Spots for an Autumn Break
With summer drawing to a close, many people feel the urge to book an autumn getaway to soak in the last rays of sun. Luckily, the autumn months of September and October are often the best times to go away as the temperatures are still fairly high and you won’t have to compete with summer holiday crowds and prices.
We’ve picked five of the best spots for autumn break, whether you’re looking for a two week break or just a long weekend:
-
Croatia
For a dose of some late summer sun, Croatia is perfect as temperatures are still in the mid-twenties in the autumn months. It only takes around four hours to fly from the UK so it’s perfect for a long weekend. Plus, at this time of year you’ll have missed the high season crowds, which means you’re also likely to save money on accommodation.
Head to Dubrovnik to relax on the stunning white-sand beaches, explore the impressive fortresses and see if you can spot one of the Game of Thrones filming locations!
-
Maldives
One of the world’s most beautiful island nations, the Maldives is the perfect break in paradise. It’s got everything you want for a relaxing autumn break – thriving culture, delicious cuisine and tropical beaches with turquoise blue waters.
The weather may be a little unpredictable as they will just be coming out of their monsoon season (July and August), but that means you can grab a bargain whilst still enjoying balmy temperatures in the high twenties.
-
Morocco
Morocco is an incredibly diverse country and perfect for those looking for activity holidays. You’ll be able to find a number of tours that explore the country in all its magnificence, including visits to imperial cities, the stunning Atlas Mountains, the Sahara Desert (which is the largest hot desert in the world) and the Atlantic coast.
-
Isles of Scilly, UK
If you’re looking for a short family holiday, the Isles of Scilly (found just off the tip of Cornwall) is absolutely idyllic.
Thanks to the warm winds of the Gulf Stream, the island enjoys warm weather well into September. You can hit the beach, go cycling on the bike trails, go kayaking or snorkel with the seals for a fun-packed holiday. And best of all– no passports are required!
-
Argentina
It takes just over 15 hours to fly to Argentina from the UK so you may want to save this for a longer break, but it’s definitely worth the journey!
There’s so much explore in this spectacular country, including the cosmopolitan capital Buenos Aires, the mighty Iguazu Falls and the Península Valdés nature reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site where you can spot whales, seals and penguins.
Soften the blow of the winter months approaching by booking yourself an autumn break. You can catch the last of the warm weather and have one more adventure before beginning preparations for a cosy winter hibernation.
