World Kindness Day Activities increase feelings of wellbeing

When I was a little girl I won a trophy for being kind and I have never been prouder of anything. It made everyone fell better when kindness was spread and I learned very young that it was well worth celebrating.

I invite you to join in this annual celebration and make it something important in your life – giving it the focus it deserves.

When is World Kindness Day?

World Kindness Day takes place on 13 November each year.

I think just like World Book Day, World Kindness Day activities  should be celebrated in EVERY school

If your school doesn’t celebrate  – maybe this year YOU could encourage them to begin.

Why Kindness matters

Kindness is more important than wisdom, and the recognition of this is the beginning of wisdom. Theodore Rubin (psychiatrist and author)

By now we have come to see that kindness is much more important than being smart or wise. We have discovered that actually it’s more important, more useful and more powerful than pretty much everything. So kindness is most definitely worth celebrating.

World Kindness Day Activities for the win

In the past schools were asked to make colourful kites to chase grey clouds away and once World Kindness UK gave away 10,00 chocolate bars at train stations  – YUM!

World Kindness Day Activities should be EVERY DAY activities

Take a look at my new book 365 days of kind for daily kindness quotes, affirmations and activities.

‘A cute hardback book with vibrant colours and easy to read quotes throughout, usually two per page. It’s a small book that I would consider in the ‘pocketbook’ variety on par with travel books and small diaries. I wouldn’t necessarily say this is a book exclusively for children as the design and theme has universal appeal in my opinion.’

World kindness day isn’t just for kids or just for schools it is a day everyone should get involved whether that be families or workplaces, churches or community grops. here are some o idea of world kindness day activities you could embrace

Have a “pay it forward” day, where everyone does something nice for someone else without expecting anything in return.

Have a communitywide yard sale, with proceeds going to a local charity.

This is a great way to declutter your home and make some extra money, while also helping out a worthy cause. You can advertise the sale in your local paper or on community notice boards. Be sure to let people know what charity the proceeds will be going to.

Have a food drive, collecting non-perishable items for the food bank.

This is a great way to help out your local community and make sure that people who are struggling have enough to eat. Non-perishable items are items that can be stored for a long time and do not need to be refrigerated. Some examples of non-perishable food items include canned goods, dried pasta, and cereal.

Have a clothes drive, collecting gently used items for the local shelter.

The local shelter is in need of gently used clothing items for those in need. A clothes drive would be the perfect way to help out! Collecting items from the community and delivering them to the shelter would be a huge help. This is a great way to give back to those in need and make a difference in the community.

Have a day where everyone volunteers for a local charity or non-profit organization.

This can involve doing things like cleaning up a local park, helping out at a food bank, or working at a soup kitchen. This is a great way to give back to the community and help those in need. It can also be a lot of fun and a great way to meet new people.

Have a “random acts of kindness” day, where people do nice things for others without them knowing who did it.

Designate a day as “random acts of kindness” day. On this day, encourage people to do something nice for someone else, without them knowing who did it. This could be something as simple as leaving a handwritten note of appreciation, or paying for someone’s coffee. The goal is to make someone’s day a little brighter, and to spread some positivity.

Have a day where people write letters of thanks to someone who has made a difference in their life.

This could be a teacher, a mentor, a family member, or a friend. This is a great way to show your appreciation for someone who has helped you, and to let them know how much they mean to you. It can also be a very therapeutic activity, as it can help you to reflect on all the positive things in your life.
