Artificial Grass keeps cropping up wherever I go – shows, magazines and even on the radio. But what’s all the fuss about? My initial reaction to Artificial Grass is that it sounds tacky, it sounds like the sort of thing a green grocer uses to display their fruit and veg. We’ve all seen sorry looking patches of astroturf somewhere at some point and it really does look awful, so why would anybody want fake grass in their garden?
Well after a little research wondering why more and more people are having it, I realised that the quality of it has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years. When you think about what Artificial Grass would feel like you would think it would be rough and plastic, but the new brands of Artificial Grass are soft and lush and dare I say it even look as realistic as the real thing, in some cases better!
With our wet winters, gardens get hammered and that once lovely lawn you had gets turned into a damp, patchy mess. It’s even worse if you have children or dogs, they can turn your garden into a mud patch within hours and it seems that this is the main driver for the popularity of Artificial Grass. People with pets or children want a nice looking lawn, with no mud and a place where pets or children can play all year round and as the quality is now so good it seems like a no brainer, especially when you think of the benefits. These are the 10 benefits I found on Lawn Perfection’s website:
- Pet Friendly
- No Mud
- No Mowing
- No Patches
- No Weeding
- Self Cleaning
- UV Stable
- Realistic
- Pollen Free
- Kids Love It!
If it is something you want to know more about I’d definitely recommend a good look at Lawn Perfection’s Artificial Grass. There loads of information on the site as well as some interesting pictures. The grass looks really realistic which really surprised me and I think Artificial Grass it is really worth a look at in 2015 as an improvement for your home.

I like your point on the low maintenance of artificial lawns.
Wow Amy. Your new artificial grass yard looks great. I bet you’ll enjoy not having to taking care of all of that yard work! Plus, as you said, the no mud aspect is pretty nice too.
You are right. Artificial grass is durable and requires hardly any maintenance. That’s why it’s a great addition to any yard.
The idea of not having to mow the lawn every week sounds great! However, I heae the word artificial I instantly get mistrustful. Maybe it depends on the region?
Choose proven brands of artificial turf. I’ve heard that cheap nameless artificial grass fades in the sun after several years of use.
I love the idea of doing no yard work on the weekend. I think that’s the best part of having a synthetic grass.
Hii
Great Post!
The Artificial grass really seems to be a natural grass. It looks so fresh. It gives a new appearance and attractive view to our home garden. It is absolutely true that artificial grass is pet-friendly.

great article although some people think its a expensive
One of the biggest perks of having synthetic grass for me would be the low maintenance. Installing artificial grass for my lawn would mean not only no more lawn mowing, weeding, and fertilizing, but no more watering! With water conservation being such a big issue nowadays, synthetic grass is seeming more and more appealing.
This is some great information for any homeowner considering making the shift to turf. I had my front yard replaced last year, and I can definitely say that I don’t regret it. It looks nicer and more uniform than real grass, and I save an hour every week by not having to mow it. I can definitely suggest it to anyone who’s on the fence. Thanks so much for writing!
Recently I have been hearing a lot of good things about artificial grass. I didn’t realize that it was becoming so popular! One of the benefits listed is self cleaning. How is artificial grass self cleaning? I would love to learn m ore about this, I will have to do some more research.
That yard showed a huge change with the new grass being installed. It is incredible how many brown, dirt patches were in the first photo. The second one shows so much vibrant life in it. I’d say is looks professionally manicured.
Great article. Although some people think article grass is expensive you can save a lot of money by fitting it yourself assuming you are good at DIY and find a tutorial online on how to install artificial grass
Mowing the lawn and tending to the bare patches in it is my least favorite part of yard work, so having artificial grass that doesn’t need mowing or patching would be ideal. However, grass is one of my favorite parts of my landscaping, and I love to be able to sit out in the summer and lie down on the soft grass. Normally, turf seems somewhat rough and scratchy. Do you know if this is true of all kinds of turf, or are there more modern kinds that are near identical to grass?
My wife has been giving me several ideas about getting artificial turf grass. After looking at our lawn and how it has so many weeds and bad grass she told me to do some research about it. At the moment, I am finding out ways on how to get artificial turf grass and also getting the opinions of my kids.
Not having to mow or week my lawn sounds fantastic! Neither or those tasks are ones that I enjoy doing, so it may actually be really nice to replace my lawn with artificial grass. What are the typical prices for buying and installing it? It’d be great to do by next summer, but I need to be sure I have enough money for it.
