Five fantastic UK days out for families this summer

Fantastic UK days out for families this summer – With the summer holidays fast approaching, many parents up and down the country are starting to panic. How do we keep our kids entertained for six whole weeks? We can’t just lock them in their rooms and expect Fortnite to do all the heavy lifting. No, if we really want to do our duty as responsible parents, we need to give them a summer they’ll never forget.

There is no need, however, to splash out hundreds and thousands on a big holiday abroad when our own backyard is packed full of world-class activities. And why squeeze everything into a week anyway when you can instead dole out the fun at a selection of incredible UK days out with the family?

Fanatstic UK days out for families this summer

Alton Towers – The UK theme park to end all UK theme parks, Alton Towers is an iconic and surprisingly varied day-out for the whole family that boasts everything from legendary, top-class coasters to areas designed specifically for younger children. There are also two hotels, one of which features a water park and crazy golf course. It’s the closest thing you’ll get to Disneyland without crossing the channel.

Warner Bros Studio Tour – Also known as the “Wizarding World of Harry Potter,” this behind-the-scenes tour is built on the same hallowed ground that was used to film the zeitgeist-defining film series. A short ride from London, this is perhaps one of the most popular tourist attractions in the UK right now and with good reason. If you kids have even a passing interest in the series, it’s certainly a day-out you can’t afford to miss.

London Zoo – Home to over 17,000 animals, London Zoo has the unique privilege of being situated in one of the world’s best cities. It’s also free for under 3s and if you purchase season train tickets you’ll be able to go back again and again and see something new every time. Gorillas, tigers and more endangered species lie in wait for your family to enjoy and there are daily live feedings and talks, so it offers education as well as entertainment.

KidZania – Sticking with the big smoke for a spell, perhaps one of the most underrated family attractions in the country is the remarkably bonkers KidZania. Essentially a fully realised city/playground that allows your kids to live out their dreams as doctors, pilots, reporters and more besides, it’s live-action role-playing at its best. It’s also located in the Westfield shopping centre, so you can treat yourselves to a little retail therapy whilst your kids discover what they want to be when they grow up.

Zip World – Stepping outside the capital for perhaps the most ambitious attraction on the list, Zip World Cavern in Wales (for children 10 and over) is an adventurous child’s paradise. Built within a vast mine, this subterranean playground not only boasts a range of trampolines and slides but the largest zip line in Europe!

Whatever your kids fancy, whether its educational adventure, white knuckle thrills or something a little more fantastical, there is plenty of family entertainment to keep them happy in the UK this summer holiday.
