Over on Pinterest there are the most beautiful interiors inspired boards and I regularly take my inspiration from them. I have recently been introduced the the rather fabulous Network VEKA and on perusing their STUNNING Network VEKA Pinterest boards I found this one .. A touch of glass.
How to add a touch of glass to your home
It is full of beautiful images around the theme of bringing more glass into your home.
I think glass really can make home sparkle and open it up. Here are my top 5 tips on using glass in your home.
- Keep it clean, glass is beautiful but dirty class is quite depressing. Keep it sparkly clean doesn’t take long and is well worth the effort. The clean glass can reflect your aesthetic and speaks volumes of your eye for detail. To maintain glass, use a glass cleaner and squeegee to take off the dirt and keep it clear and sparkling. Nothing like thumbprints and smudges can ruin the beauty of glass.
- Think outside the box and consider glass shelving, drawer knobs and coffee tables not just windows and doors, to let the light shine in. Such details can make your home interesting, and eyes can travel to those areas that are often overlooked.
- If you overdress glass you can obscure it so keep window dressings to a minimum and aim for clutter free
- Consider stained or decorative glass for a really sumptuous effect that can add beautiful detail to your windows and doors. Stained glass can add intricate details without sacrificing light from coming in. If at all, it amplifies the beauty of the light that passes through, which brightens your space more beautifully.
- Don’t be afraid of colour, glass can look amazing in jewelled colours and it can add a whole other dimension to the light shining through. My grandparents had a multicoloured glass door and as a child I would sit for hours looking at the beautiful coloured light that shone through and danced on their hardwood floors. it was like a rainbow.
But what could make your home stand out from the rest is glass house extensions. This sturdy structural glass that’s frameless lends a touch of comfort and elegance to your home’s exterior. When you add this to your home, you’ll be surprised at how it could instantly increase your home’s property value and aesthetic appeal.
A glass house extension can also add more space to your home and make it appear bigger from the outside. What’s great about it is you’ll have more room to entertain visitors, and you can enjoy a refreshing afternoon drink with friends or a romantic evening with your partner under the beautiful night sky.
