As regular readers know I love mid century modernist pieces. I love the character and design detail and I adore how modern they look, even now.
Craftsmanship and artisan skills are absolutely key trends this season and unique mid century items are going to be hot property.
I have had the best time sourcing them for a home study. In fact I wish the pieces I have chosen were going into MY home study.
The items I am gong to show you here are totally unique pieces, all from Kairos, all just fabulous.
Would you like to see my picks?
I had to start with the bookcase of my dreams ….
Two-Part Stained Birch Typenko Bookcase by Axel Einar Hjorth
I just completely love the simplicity of this design as well as the sturdiness. It is a wonderfully classic piece just absolutely perfect for a home office and the perfect bookcase. You just know this will last a lifetime. It is one of those pieces you just have to show everyone that comes to your home!
Every home study needs a great table lamp and this one just oozes class. It is made of teak and brass and its also sleek and deceptively simple. It would look so lovely on the desk too…made for each other!
On the wall a brass framed mirror would help reflect lots of lovely light and make a style statement of its own. This is a truly stunning mirror framed by a ribbon of bent brass which give it the most gorgeous curve, The mirror is attributed to designer Pietro Chiesa.
A study needs a fabulous Palisander desk and this one is just completely stunning and compliments the rest of my picks. A really substantial desk with oodles of room for everything you might need, I just love that the curved legs would echo the curved frame of the mirror and the wood cwould go so well with the table lamp and bookcase.
A study also needs a place for you to relax, read and dream. It needs a sofa. But not just any sofa. I firmly believe all creatives need a velvet sofa – it’s a must! It may be the texture of the season but this gorgeous two seater by architect and designer Paolo Buffa dates back to the 50’s. I think it is adorable and perfect for a little nap mid afternoon.
So what do you think of The Kairos Collective Showcase Mid Century Modernist Furniture ? I think it is rather wonderful and wouldn’t these pieces create the most perfect study. I would perhap s add a rug in russet colours and a proper vintage typewriter and I think it would be all set.
