The perfect garden bench – so very English
There is something so quintessentially English about sitting on a bench in a garden. It is the perfect place to sit and ponder, chat with a friend, drink your tea and perhaps read the newspaper. We have a few benches in our garden but they are pretty old and rickety and do not do the job of looking beautiful as well as being practical. I am still searching for the perfect bench.
So what makes the perfect bench? For me, there are certain qualities that are really important.

Well for me first and foremost it would have to be able to cope with the weather. I have had many a garden bench that looked great initially and then just didnt cope with the elments and soon looked very shabby.

It is important to me to buy a bench that is of good quality. Ours will have kids scrambling over it and will be well used so it needs to be robust and well made. Cheap benches look cheap and are false economy becuse they very quickly fall apart. You need a bench to be tough above all things if it’s going to have a lot of people sitting on it and it’s going to live outside!
