My beautiful things by Leyla Brooke

Lelya Brooke blogs at This Day I Love and is here to share her most beautful things with us this week.

My name is Leyla, also known as Mum to my 3 humans and dog Mum to J. I have a passion for the outdoors and love to run. I can often be found off road exploring the trails and fells and covering distances all the way up to 50 miles.

As a family we love travelling and discovering new adventures, as I try and run around the world. My blog captures our everyday moments, travel, running and everything in between!

The most beautiful day I ever had ……

Discounting the birth of my three children as that would be my first answer it would have to be the day I witnessed the sunrise over the Bahamas. We were on our first Disney cruise and I had gotten up early to go for a run around the ship. It started grey and generally miserable but as the sun came up the whole sky was filled with beautiful pinks and reds, it was just breathtaking. The day just continued to get better. A Disney cruise is simply magical and we will be taking our fourth next year.

The most beautiful thing I have ever seen  …

I really could answer all these questions with my children, they are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! However, I have also had the pleasure of seeing many other beautiful things too! If you follow my blog or social channels you will know I have a passion for running and I am so incredibly lucky to live in Yorkshire, as that is the most beautiful place on earth, I often run first thing in the morning or last thing at night. Some of the most beautiful things I have ever seen are the sunrises and sunsets over Yorkshire. They just make you stop in your tracks.

The most beautiful thing I have ever owned …

I am one of those people that would rather spend my money on creating memories with the children than on things, so I tend to not own ‘things’. Most things I own are for a practical purpose or a necessity, so it is quite a difficult question to answer. I love my running medals because each one tells a different story but I think if I had to pick something I would say my bracelet. I suffer with PTSD, PND, depression and anxiety. Lack of self esteem and self belief/worth also does not help. I bought the bracelet myself in a bid to help and it is engraved with the following, ‘If you fall down and lose your spark Rise as the whole damn fire’. It never leaves my wrist, comes on all my runs/swims and is just a constant positive wherever I am, and whenever I am not near my children too. The words are the real beauty because they make sure I rise when it gets tough.

The most beautiful song I have ever heard …..

People that know me will know my taste in music isn’t what I am about to write. I have loads of songs that spark different emotions in me but “Haven’t Met You Yet” by Michael Bublé, is perhaps the most beautiful song I have ever heard. The reason is when I was pregnant with my eldest she was given a 10% chance of survival as I was constantly bleeding and they kept saying it was a delayed miscarriage. The song would always get her to move and wiggle, but in calming way. When she was born it was the song that would soothe her. It is a song that is associated with a difficult time but one with the most beautiful ending, my first child, my eldest daughter.

The most beautiful person I know is…..

All my children are beautiful, I would say that as a Mum but my youngest daughter has the most beautiful soul I have ever known. For 6 years old she has such empathy towards humans and animals that is way beyond her age and sometimes my understanding. She cannot comprehend bad actions towards anyone or anything, and constantly strives to see the good in everything. Her mind works differently. She saw a homeless person in London, unbeknown to me, and told me she wanted to visit London again. I said of course and she said thanks Mummy because when we visit again I am going to bring all my money and my blankets and give it to those people sleeping in the doorway. She ‘mothers’ if that is the correct term, people and simply wants to care for them. For 6 years old that is pure beauty.

The most beautiful thing about me is……

I have incredibly low self esteem so it won’t be anything to do with looks etc, I would say it is probably my passion. I am very passionate about things I believe in and things I enjoy. I stand up for my beliefs and my family and am very passionate about them. Running is another example.

Thanks, Leyla!
